RPF rocks. And this is awesome info. :D

I love RPF, but the little Sebastian Stan/Chris Evans RPF i've read has, unfortunately, mostly cast SS as a weepy, fragile, eating-disorder/self-harming subby bottom. DNW.

SIGH

(Anonymous) 2020-02-18 07:23 am (UTC)(link)
Hey can I write RPF of you, including stalking out details of your life? Ship you with any siblings you have?

(Anonymous) 2020-02-18 10:54 am (UTC)(link)
There is nothing stopping the barista at Starbucks who knows my name from my drink orders from writing RPF using my name and whatever info she has on me. And as long as she's clear that it's fiction and she posts it to RPF-appropriate locations, I don't really give a damn.

Not saying it wouldn't be weird, but so what?

Right? Same.

It it trips your trigger, go ahead.

Okay. Sure. Keep conflating the actors you find hot with characters you find hot, Straighty McWhitegirl. It's always straight white girls with entitlement issues who think they're owed celebrities' lives and being able to write whatever they want and don't see why they're different from, say, gross old men who write stories about actual real live women they meet who are decidedly gross themselves.

Go fuck yourself, you gross asswipe, and maybe stop objectifying real actual people.

I'm not straight, but thanks for playing!

Also - why aren't you spewing this level of vitriol at all the other people in this thread who *also* like RPF? Don't hate them as much?

(Anonymous) 2020-02-18 06:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, you're 0 for 2 there, I'm also not straight.

I don't even know who or what RPF is, but damn, the level of hate spewed in this one comment is completely unnecessary.

Awesome

(Anonymous) 2020-02-18 05:08 am (UTC)(link)
That's interesting! I'd read it.

There's nothing much to say about this secret unless you agree that RPF is inherently creepy. I don't.

That's a cool, weird factoid about Sebastian Stan, though.

OP here: I guess I still associate RPF with the Tin Hatter's creeping on people with twitter. Like "Why are you having a baby with your fake-wife, we know you all love your co-star!" creeping and I've never gotten over it. I'm sure most RPF folks are fine and cool but I have been scared by some high grade cringe.

Hence my desires are a secret.

AYRT - Yeah, this is pretty fair, IMO. To me, the actual RPF itself is what I'm usually fine with, because it's easy to make it clear that it's fiction and only post it to places that are fic places, and where the actors are unlikely to see it unless they actively go looking.

But everything that often goes with RPF does sometimes feel pretty squicky and inappropriate, I do agree there. Tin Hatting, and bringing your RPF agenda to the attention of the actors/musicians themselves in any way, are definitely things I find rude and inappropriate.
