Oh yeah, I keep meaning to make a secret about ACU, because like... I finished the final story mission, got the bit that was obviously meant to make me sad, and I was just really dang bored. The whole 'forbidden romance' shit was just so tedious, my god.
But then! I was playing a bunch of side missions and fetch quests that were left on the map, and I did this one where Thomas-Alexandre Dumas *dreamy sigh* asks you to retrieve some letters stolen by Templar thugs. You get them back, and he explains that they're from his mother and sister in Saint-Domingue, on the other side of the world. I legit teared up, and tried to work out if I could replay the mission just so I could murder those thugs a bit harder.
So like, the game did manage to make me emotional... just not about the thing the game really wanted me to care about. *Shrug*.
