I agree with what other comments are saying. There is a certain quality in fanfiction that's very distinctive, and I think it comes from the fact that fanfic tends to take a lot for granted in terms of characters and settings, since they are stories based on established canon. This is even true of good fic, so it's not necessarily only bad fanfic that gives off this feel. So when an original story is very trope-heavy and skimpy on fleshing out its world and characters, it gives off this "fanfic" vibe.
