I only ever watched the run of 9 and 10. But from what I saw, Donna was the best companion. I love Donna so very much. Her ending was one of the reasons I stopped watching. Just hurt too much.

Three, Seven and Twelve for Doctors, Ainley or Missy for Masters (also liked Delgado, but the other two are more fun), Barbara and Bill for Companions (points also go to Donna and Ace). Favourite not-technically-a-companion would be the Brigadier.

Four because of The Scarf.
(Sorry, I don't know enough of the series to really answer that. But Four's scarf is awesome.)

Seventh Doctor and Tenth Doctor
Ace is the best companion, there are many honorable mentions and I love all the ene who companions a lot but Ace is just... The absolute best
I don't care about the master

Classic: I've only seen a bit of it, but I really like both 3 and 4
New: 11 hands down, but 12 and 13 are tied for second and amazing as well
Master: Missy, followed by Delgado Master.
Companion: Bill and Donna.

I haven't watched that much (just wasn't my thing), but of the two Doctors I've seen, I actually liked Christopher Eccleston better than David Tennant (although I love Tennant in everything else he's been in).

Can't remember much about the other characters other than Rose, who I didn't really have any particularly strong feelings about...she was okay, didn't love or hate her.

1) Eight. He has the best fics and books imo. Then Ten because I love Tennant. Then Three because he's forever annoyed with everything.

2) I like Delgado. Maybe it's the beard. Eight's Master looks and behaves all too similar to Terminator.

3)Martha. I'm looking forward to when the current Doctor ends her run so I can watch it. I hear she travels with an older guy, I'd like to see that.

Best classic: Three - such style
Best new: Twelve
Best Master: Delgado, menace personified
Best companion: Does the Brig count? Because the Brig is awesome the best character of all imo. I'm not sure if he's a companion or not. He might be better referred to as one of the Doctor's few friends and equals.

I don't like when the final episode of a series is a cliff-hanger.

I browse AO3's tags for my favourite tropes and read fics featuring them in fandoms I'm barely familiar with.

G'kar from Babylon 5 is one of the best written and best acted characters ever. He's inspirational to me and I don't think any other character will ever hold a candle to him in my eyes. I don't really ship him with anyone, he's not that kind of favorite character. I just love him and admire him and think that just everything came together when it came to him. I don't need fic because canon already gives me everything I need.

There is nothing wrong with being drawn to or interested in villain characters. Villains when done right are great explorations of different extremes. And actors often get to have fun with those roles, and it shows. Plus, evil can be sexy in a fictional context.

I like shows that combine arcs and episodic formats. There are different ways to do this and I think different places along the continuum can work well. But I think in general having a mix is best. Shows that cut out all "filler" end up losing characterization that they might get from a few one-off episodes. But at the same time, if a show remains episodic, it is hard for the audience to really see growth and change in the characters and their world.

When I'm bored, I read Fandom Secrets posts from years ago. B!S: I love it when secrets predict the future or are hilarious in hindsight. For example, recently I found a secret about hoping the HIMYM series finale bombs. I wonder if OP was happy or regrets wishing that.

Often I read mystery novels mostly for the characters (especially in a series with recurring characters) and not for the mysteries themselves.

I like to make my own opinion on characters by their action rather than rely on the narrators dialog about who they are.

I wanted to say thanks because I wanted to read that series for a long time, and the secret and helpful person in the comments clarifying what was wrong with the description in the secret helped me decide to finally put it in my shopping cart! :)
