And about depth, Gov's only depth is his worrying for Elizabeth, and he doesn't remember her. Any other fierce thinking would completely kill the character. XD

but people hardly pay attention to the governor in the movie to correctly judge his characterization anyway. back when i was in the potc fandom, there were so many gov-haters that tried to portray him as a controlling father. it just makes me lol.

Oh yes~

This is true. He's not that controlling. =/ He wants the best for his daughter, and amazingly, he gets run over by her more often than anything else. Elizabeth is so headstrong anyway, WTF, he can't keep tabs on her. He's sort of resigned, it seems; he takes duty less black and white than say... Norrington. Plus, he trusts in his daughter's judgement most the time so I don't know.

I could probably sit still and do a character analysis on him, if needed. Lawl. Gov'na.

Haha. XD See, but no one knows what, besides daughter, wigs and fashion, he might think about. It's because he... doesn't. <3
