Weirdest fandom dreams you've had

Do you ever dream about your favorite media? Ever have any strange fannish dreams?

I have fandom-related dreams just about every night. Usually a combination of different fandoms. Of what I can recall, the weirder ones involve the combination of things like Tolkien fandom but modern-day things like cars and cities or a few times Middle Earth in space.

I dream a lot about my favorite media and usually the dreams are nice, but I dreamt a lot about severed fingers after that one episode of Doctor Who where the bald guy was giving people nightmares with his fingers. Like I'd be walking down the street and all these severed fingers would start flying at me out of nowhere or I'd go home and there would be fingers hiding in random spots in my house and then trying to attack me. Then the Doctor saved me in one of the dreams and the dreams stopped.

I don't. I really would like to! I almost never remember my dreams, and sometimes wonder how often (or rarely) i have them, as my sleep is pretty fractured (i wake up to use the bathroom a couple times a night, and generally get squished in the head by at least one cat a couple times a night....).

Plus hot flashes, joy.

I always wake up on the right side of the bed whenever I dream about fandom! Literally the day before last I had a dream about waiting for an alarm signal meant for an apocalyptic level storm. I was in my parents room (had the best vantage point for the storm) with my sister and decide to bide the time by watching the latest episode of Murdoch Mysteries... well, I decide. My sister barely tolerates the show
.
(The episode starts and kinda takes over the dream with my perspective being that of an outsider lookin)
It's a Henry-centric episode, (who I adore and my sister hates/like to tease me about) so somewhere in the back of my brain (where I'm still watching it with my sister at home) I'm telling myself to keep it cool.

They plot of the murder/kidnapping case is kind fuzzy, but at one point Cherry is leading George up the stairs against his will. (either due to threat, or insistence on getting an exclusive on the case) Henry sees this and makes a dramatic entrance by throwing his arms around both George and Cherry just as the elevators close behind them. Once on the top level, Henry grabs George and leaps into a water feature, the various filigree make it like a slide and they land unharmed back at the bottom level just in time to meet up with Murdoch and Brackenreid.

But then it cuts to an alert coming from my phone, the storm is in our area and we need to evacuate now. I'm partly devastated because the episode was almost over and I really wanted to find out what happed.
I look down at my phone again as we start to pack up, only to discover that the noises coming from my phone was only from a song called 'Apocalypse' and had nothing to do with the storm coming in.

So we go back to watching Murdoch, and due to the events we missed while distracted by the false apocalypse alert, in order to solve the case Crabtree must win a danceoff with Cherry. She decides to keep some of the rules to herself in revenge for all the times he wouldn't give her confidential police reports, she goes first. (now my favourite part of the dream) George has to compete using samba, or quickstep as his choice of dance, knowing neither, he does his best but from the looks on the judges faces he knows he doesn't have a chance.
So he gets an idea, asking the judges if he could have a friend going him, as these dances aren't typically done with only one person. The judges (with very little enthusiasm) says he can. George catches Henry's eye in the crowd, they share a look, and immediately Henry's down there on the dance floor with him. They're twirling, and lifting each other like they were born to do this, and as a grand finale Henry dips George with a dramatic kiss!

Meanwhile, I was already trying not to freak out about have a Henry centric episode, but they've been my OTP since I stated watching, and the dream cuts back me failing ecstatically at trying to keep all my feelings reeled in while my sister just sitting there rolling her eyes;;

I'll post more if anyone want to hear them. (and if I can find the notes I write all my dreams down on whenever a particularly interesting one happens!)

Fanfiction Writers!

Below, post or paraphrase the best review you've ever received on one of your fics, and a link to that fic!

Re: Fanfiction Writers!

Okay, so, there are two reviews that I'd say are the best. One quotes a line from my fic and says why the person thinks it works.

" "That he alone could do this to the most powerful being in Arda thrilled him. It filled him with a power that he longed to stoke. He was Mairon, even Melkor could sway to his will."

This was my absolute favorite line from this fic and it perfectly sums up Mairon's character and their dynamic. I love it, and I love this fic. Great job, as always."

That's from Worthy- https://archiveofourown.org/works/7868773?show_comments=true#comments

And then from my newest fic, To Know Your Enemy- https://archiveofourown.org/works/21888862?show_comments=true#comments

"AAAHHHH!!!!! YOU’RE BACK!!!!!! And brilliant as ever, I might add!"

Short and sweet. Nice to know I was appreciated after a long absence due to massive writers block.

Back in the day, I was part of this fanfiction round robin thing where one of us would write a chapter, email it to the group, and then somebody else would write a chapter, and so on. I remember I wrote one chapter and apparently it was so sad that everybody told me that I'd made them cry. I lowkey felt a little proud of that. I think the finished project was posted on GeoCities, so it's probably been long deleted.

ngl but I adore every single one of my reviews, but some of my fav. are:

Seeking Rin:

"Whooooooa. Very Manchurian candidate. So intriguing! Thi all just turned epic! Reading on!"

"... What
The.
FUCK is going on here?"

"I can't believe I found a Dean Koontz novel here of all places, hahaha. I like your writing style. Keep it up author-san :)"

And from a vaguely more recently updated fic comes this lengthy review:

Are You Ready? :

"Oh wow. I love this so much! I agree with Hatake (I'll use that to differ between him and regular Kakashi). The training for, at least, the Rookie 9 (we can partially take Gai's team because of favoritism (he totally has it)) was seriously lacking. Kakashi literally taught them water-walking, which can even be construed as just going "Do this." One can argue about team-building, and trying to focus on Sasuke to keep him in village, but to me those are sorely lacking excuses. (I have feelings on little Sasuke and his level of threat to the village with his hostility and inability for teamwork, but that is neither here or there.)

I love how this is expanding on Kakashi's inability to teach Genin (love the guy, one of my favorite characters, but he was a horrendously terrible teacher), and how younger him views this. I absolutely adore Hatake's viewpoint as we get to read his feelings on his other self. I kind of want to see both of them face-to-face just to witness the verbal, at least, asskicking for being such a horrible sensei.

I adore how this is expanding on Sakura's feelings on this, which are glossed over in the anime, if that. Her feelings are conveyed very well, and written pretty damn well, to put it very simple. I am in love with her views, which I can totally get. I love how her insecurities also play. I love how Hatake can see this and adapt. I can create a treasure hoard for the amount of feels I have just to have Ino backing her. Ino helping teach her things. I have seriously affection for how this touches on how Tsunade can teach her, but she can't heal all of her emotions that were trampled when she first became a Genin.

I have to say, my favorite part in this, so far as I am sure I have much to look forward to, is how Sakura and Ino are being reassured that it is not their fault. It is not them that has failed. The system has failed them, their teachers has failed them. In the anime, I would not have been surprised if Rookie 9 had been killed in missions due to being unprepared for everything. Just look at Wave for that. (Just imagine Hatake's views on that clusterfuck).

While I adore close relationships between mentor and student, I love the opposite as well. It gives depth to those relations. It just so happens thay this gives me both, which i am extremely grateful for. I am so happy with this. So very joyous. Thank you so much for writing this. I know this is mainly me complaining about the anime, but this piece of literature gives me what I am seriously so happy for. Thank you.

Thank you so much for writing this, and sharing it for us to enjoy! While I would adore to read more, take care of yourself! For however long it takes for anything, i will always be lurking to enjoy more! Take care of yourself, and do not push yourself!
Thank you so much for this piece of greatness."

One of the most memorably worded reviews I ever got was:

"MY LOVE FOR YOUR GABRIEL BURNS LIKE MARY WINCHESTER ON A CEILING"

But I don't remember what specific fic it was! I wrote a lot of SPN Gabriel one shots, but it might have been left on something in The Banter'verse.

Both these reviews were left in a semi-private capacity, rather than ON the fic, but I'll still count them. Both for "white as tar against your berylline heart". (https://archiveofourown.org/works/22507594/chapters/53782984)

Longer: "You have a gift for horror or horror adjacent writing. I didn't know much about [the fandom] going in, which possibly added to the air of mystery I can't really say, but I really liked the way it unfolded, gradually becoming clearer and clearer what is going on and how disturbed the protagonist is [... ...] that was absolutely brilliantly written. Disturbing, in some respects, and perhaps not something I would re-read incessantly for that reason alone, but very well done all the same."

Shorter: "it's beautifully written
Dude I loved it a lot
It was like
dripping in art"

I've always loved Emily Prentiss' fashion sense. High heeled boots, black blazer and pants. She looks good but also professional and badass all at the same time. I'd love to be able to dress like her.

Isuka and Felmina from Another Eden, including their "another style" outfits. (Though I admit, one slight adjustment and it could go super skanky with no redeeming qualities.) Yuna's outfits are pretty cute too. I also like Miyu's, as well as Anabel's paladin form (though I don't know wtf to make of her AS outfit. The unicorn is cool though).

There is an Italian soap opera called Un posto nel sole.

One of the main characters is an older woman ( 65+ ) named Marina. She is not a fashion model by any stretch of the imagination, but, man do the costumers give her the most striking looking outfits imaginable.

I don't have her figure type or anything resembling her personal coloring, but I almost get terribly jealous about what a clothes horse she is.

What's everyone up to today?

(Anonymous) 2020-03-06 12:42 am (UTC)(link)
I've now been on the phone with my mom for almost an hour listening to her bitch about how difficult her life is and how ~lucky~ I am to have the ~luxury~ of caring about people other than myself because my life isn't as hard as hers.

Everything is just all about her, all the time, and any time I try to mention something about myself or my own life, she complains about how frivolous and dumb it is and changes the subject back to herself, and short of just hanging up on her, I can't get out of the conversation.

Grrrr.

What about you guys? :D
