Imo Steve actually dying in IW would've been a genuine shock. Even when Tony got stabbed I was a bit like "wow, if they've actually gone there...?" until convenient Dr Strange.

Whereas none of the "real" deaths were as shocking as the writers seemed to think they were (they were all obvious, Gamora was the one I sort of only half-expected but in a way it was still obvious) and the dusting had little to no effect on me either because I knew they'd all be back.
