So happy to hear this. I hope he rots.

Lol, and his lawyers were like, "but he'll die in prison!", and everyone else was like, "so fucking what?"

Their whole "he's already suffered enough" thing. Fuck them. I'm all for defense lawyers doing their job. Everyone deserves to be defended. This is above and beyond. They are no longer just doing their jobs. And seriously? What about what his victims suffered? And prison isn't just about punishment, it is about keeping dangerous people detained so they can't harm anyone else. He's a danger to society. He's not remotely repentant and would absolutely rape more women if he could. He needs to be locked up.

All of this.

Nope. My animosity towards Weinstein stays with Weinstein. The system is in place that everyone gets enthusiastic and committed defence. That means going above and beyond for every client. The fact that other lawyers AREN'T going that far for their clients is the problem.

Weinstein deserves sod all, but WE deserve a system that give weinstein the same passionate defence that an innocent man gets. If you believed weinstein to be innocent you wouldn't think their defence was above and beyond, you'd think that's exactly the right thing to do. And defence lawyers have to treat all their clients, even the guilty once, with the same passionate defence as the innocent. Has to work like that, or the system doesn't work. The system would then allow people to be punished based not on the merits of their case, but on the bais of their defence lawyers.

On the one hand, I kinda feel like he deserved longer. On the other hand, reports are that he is "In poor health" so 11 years (which is what he's likely to serve) might see out the rest of his days. Maybe. If he actually has to serve it.

So thirty minutes before the game started it was announced to be postponed. Turns out that one of the players caught the coronavirus, and the whole team is in quarantine. All future games have been cancelled and every team they've gone against recently has to go though testing and watch to see if they have it too.

Luckily it's the Jazz, so it'll be easy to track down the three fans they do have to see if it spread to the audience.

it's crazy!!! Obviously it's better to be safe than sorry and I'm glad that they made the appropriate decision, but I am going to be personally bummed out if I don't get to watch any basketball while we're all quarantined

It's also extremely fucked up that the guy who got coronavirus was joking about how silly all the coronavirus precautions are like.... last week

I can't even wrap my head around it all. To me it seems like an excess, but I do get it. These guys have to be checked to keep it from spreading it around not only to each other, but all the fans too.
Typical that the guy who complains about the precautions is the one to get everyone sick because of it.

It's definitely a huge thing to even think about but I don't think they have any choice. Even if you play games with no fans, the NBA is a physical league. You're going to be in close physical contact with players all game long. And the fact that there's a multiple day period where you're asymtopmatic (as I understand it) means that it's really easy to infect people - realistically Gobert probably has already infected multiple other players and those guys might have infected people too. So there was no other choice as crazy as it seems.

Now I'm hearing that a lot of other major sports events are being straight out cancelled. Like the Canadian Figure Skating Championships aren't even being postponed, just cancelled! Quebec (which is fucking huge) only has eight confirmed cases of the virus! This is a huge event, one of the biggest competitions in Figure Skating! What the hell?!
