I copied mine from the main discussion because I put it in kind of a weird spot:

I'm more interested in male characters because all my real life friends are female. Men are like alien creatures to me sometimes, and that's more interesting in fiction. As you can see, if anything, my real-life issues are with men.

But I do enjoy some female-heavy content when it happens to exist and align with my interests. I love Sailor Moon and a few other magical girl anime like Tokyo Mew Mew. I like the new She-Ra cartoon. Mainstream, Western shows with big fandoms that are female-centric and aren't teen dramas or other genres that don't interest me at all? Uh... what are those? People like what's available to them. Make a better variety of female-heavy things and more people will be interested in female characters.
