Your first problem is incredibly easy to solve. Just don't read fic with sexual content???? If you see your asexual character and the fic is tagged as explicit, just don't read it.

As for your second comment... no comment.

That's what I do. I wish there were more fics with asexuals who don't have sex, that's all. But there aren't (or maybe I'm looking the wrong place, IDK) so it is what it is. I'm bringing it up in this thread because it's relevant to the topic, but it's not like I go around complaining about it all the time or something.

Why? If there's something wrong with what I said, can you please explain what it is? I'm not trying to say people can't identify however they want, I just find it a bit frustrating that there are all these variables with asexual as a label that aren't there with other sexuality labels and wish it were a bit more straight forward. I'm sorry if that upset you in some way.

I absolutely get you. Asexual characters are so incredibly rare for me. I normally only come across them when a fandom headcanons a character as ace. And then when you add the zero sex into the mix... it's slim pickings.

Sorry for the misunderstanding, what I ment was I also won't say anything just like you *wink wink*.
Let's put it this way, I absolutely don't want the entire ace community to split into multiple factions, we are stronger together especially with all the rampant aphobia that gets flung about.
But there is a certain group that has sex, their own flag and a name that sets them apart from us. And yet they are still included in our number :')

I'd rather us not have to leave the community that was made for us. I'd like to instead see it start to reflect more upon the core of our members and not some of the umbrella groups that we've adopted into our midst.
I'd never want anyone to feel unwelcome, but it it really does feel like we've started to get pushed out of our own movement lmaooo

person below you

Yeah. I don't know how to say it without sounding mean or like I'm gatekeeping or whatever, but I feel like things would be much easier if the definition was just "doesn't like/want to have sex" or something along those lines, and that was it. I really don't see why people who love sex feel the need to identify as asexual or be part of the community, anyway. I don't purposely want to exclude people, but I can't help but feel a bit resentful...like we can't even have one thing (label/community/group/place/however you want to describe it) without them? I don't know.

Ah, okay.

But there is a certain group that has sex, their own flag and a name that sets them apart from us. And yet they are still included in our number :')

Sorry if I'm being dense, but what group are you talking about? Demisexuals?

And yeah, I know it's not good to split the community into multiple factions, but at the same time I feel like...what's even the point if it includes people who like/want sex? I feel like that's mean and it's not good to exclude people, but...IDK how to explain it, it's just kind of frustrating.
