I hate it. I hate when my camera does it to me and turn it off.

I don’t know what this is, but I’m used to people on my television screen looking nothing like real people.

I don't see anything unusual? Anyone have a more obvious example?

Does that mean you love high resolution video where everyone has mile wide pores?
I like pointing and laughing at that stuff.

OP

I do, personally. I like high-res everything else, so why not skin?

I'm super short-sighted, and the blurry thing makes me feel like someone stole my glasses. I want to see detail.

Me too OP. Seeing all the pores and wrinkles confirms to me that what I'm watching is real. The smoothing and blurring always pulls me out of whatever I'm watching. Nothing in the real world looks like that.

The worst thing about it (for me) is that when they don't do it, I catch myself thinking "she looks so old" (because let's be honest, there's more digital work done on women than men)and that's awful, because it means that my idea of what a woman of certain age looks like is getting distored even further...

(And say what you want about individual choices and "we all know that's not real", and stuff, but it all still makes me feel awful when I look at myself in the mirror :()
