Weekend Plans?

What is everyone doing this weekend?

I am visiting my sister for an extra long weekend. We are going to eat pizza and watch a movie tonight. We are also going to make homemade hamburger buns and naan. Sunday, I am going to figure out filing for unemployment. I am also going to hopefully start working on a blanket.

I hope you have a fun weekend! In between freakouts at the state of the world, I’m gonna make a big pot of soup to last another week, maybe make some focaccia or something to go with it, hopefully get some housecleaning done, and some yardwork, especially since we had hail last night and a lot of plants took a beating. Maybe work on a costume, even though SDCC is likely gonna be cancelled and I’m not even sure about Halloween celebrations.

I still need to mail my taxes so maybe I will take a walk and do that while staying at least 6 feet from anyone else taking a walk. Its supposed to be rainy this weekend though.

My husband and I have been saying for ages we need to sort out our bookcases so with all forms of social mixing being effectively banned, we don't have much else to do this weekend! We booked the last of our annual leave for 2019-20 on the coming Monday-Tuesday with the intention of seeing my mother-in-law but she has underlying health conditions so we can't see her as she's in 12 weeks of recommended self-isolation.

Anyway, for the bookcases we have a mix of comics/graphic novels, non-fiction and fiction (across various genres) so god knows where we'll start. One thing's for sure, we've both said we're not doing something stupid like organising by book colour :/

Tomorrow, laundry. But Sunday I'm ordering brunch from a favorite restaurant that's currently doing takeout only (they're selling bottles of bellinis and mimosas too, yay), and having brunch at home while watching movies and drinking a couple bottles of bellinis!

No specific plans other than hot baths and watching something since I'm not feeling great due to hormones. Was watching Next Generation, but I'm feeling in the mood for a Lord of the Rings rewatch this weekend maybe. Also lots of time with my kitty, who is really enjoying having everyone at home.

So I lost my job

I knew there was a chance but I kept trying to be positive and hopeful. But I found out today that because of being shut down due to coronavirus, I won't be able to return to my job when they reopen for financial reasons (it's a small business).

I've been at this job for almost 15 years, and it was amazing. They were (mostly) great people and basically like family after all that time, they were super understanding when I needed time off, the pay was really good...everything was great.

But now I have to look for a job, I've been looking at listings for the past couple hours since I found out, but I can't find anything in the same field that pays enough (and stuff in other fields I'm not qualified for) and I can't stop crying.

I just don't know what I'm going to do. :(

I’m sorry, anon. If you’re in the US, at least the financial assistance bill might get you some extra unemployment money? Maybe try and keep in touch with coworkers and see if things improve enough for you to reapply to the same position once this is over? Good luck.

So, knowing that everything is being cancelled for the majority of this year over here - I've decided to plan my costume for a convention next year or whenever I do get to go.

I've been on a nostalgic weeb kick recently so I think I would like to go as demon!Naruto or demon!Gaara. If I grow my hair out enough I could also dress as Ryuuk from Death Note.

This dress from The Phantom of the Opera Lloyd Webber stage show has been on my to-do list forever. I have 15 yards of peach silk taffeta, 1500 yards of black embroidery thread, 50 yards of tearaway stabilizer, a digitized embroidery pattern, and an old pokey computerized embroidery machine that I don’t really know how to use. Also bits of lace and trim and jet beads and whatnot. Also also, even by machine, each of those scalloped motifs takes an hour, not counting trying to line up the fabric when I rehoop.

Something to do while I wait to see if I caught the plague during my first grocery/laundry run/interaction with other humans in nine days yesterday. When I’m drowning in bloody mucus, I’ll be hoping you beat me to hell, homeless man who blew his nose and coughed on the dryer my clothes were in and refused to move until I gave him the last of my quarters.

I want to cosplay one of the Vuvalini from Mad Max. I love all those layers, all the worn-out stuff, hard-used, but well kept. Plus - I'm the right age. :D

Badass, grown up Little Red Riding Hood, with tough leather pants and practical leather boots, a leather vest over some kind of tunic, and a thick, warm wool cloak, with wolf's fir trim on the hood (not real wolf's fir tho). Plus a crossbow, and a hatchet strapped to my thigh.

Basically, very badass, still kind of sexy but not impractical, and everything made out of real materials - not a bunch of cheap plastic crap.

Something Tolkien. Melkor maybe, or Sauron in movie armor. Or an elf once I got down to to a better weight and felt more pretty. I'd love to do a Celebrimbor, but I don't feel pretty enough to be able to do elves even if I could afford it.

I've had a shitty week, a shittier day, and I've only just checked the comments from yesterday and I am pissed as shit. People are assholes, and it's one thing to screw off because someone is incapable of dealing with another persons opinion, but it's a whole nother matter to make a post to Case as if it's they're fault because people are actually involved in this comm.
They seriously couldn't be that stupid to think that a place revolving around secrets could be as sanctioned as the goddamn nunnery they see, to live in, especially since they've been here 'for such a long time'. As if only the purist of opinions were ever a of staple secrets here. It's bullshit is what it is.

And yeah, I know all I'm doing is using all my anger to make an example out of some kind of convenient asshole, but it doesn't change the fact that what they did was shitty as fuck.

There's only so many times we can say "oh, it's you." before even that many words become a chore.


PS, I do actually do appreciate you Wako, I'm not that completely full of crap. You do you, and it's honestly more than most people do these days.
