Some of the worst antis really are into children's media almost exclusively, and use the fact it's marketed toward a younger audience as a reason why kinky shit shouldn't be allowed. It's wild.

What why? If it's kept in a space on the internet where the average 8 year old (or whatever age of the media is), who the heck cares? I am assuming these people are not printing out vore and smut and slipping them between the pages of Goodnight Moon at the library...

Several reasons.

1. Kids could find it by accident.
2. Older kids, like idk, middle schoolers, will lie about their age so they can see adult content and will be psychologically damaged, so no one should post any adult content to protect them.
3. Pedophiles will use the content to groom kids so it shouldn't be created to protect them.

It's all puritanical pearl clutching.

NAYRT

Funnily enough I am an example of number 1! :D

When we first got an internet connection at home I loved googling any random stuff I could think off because having all that information right there was so cool, you know?

So one day I decide to google Cardcaptor Sakura because I'd started watching the show on a local TV channel but then they moved it to an earlier time slot when I was still in class, so I couldn't watch it anymore and I wanted to know how it ended.

Long story short: my first contact with any sort of fanfiction was some horribly written story where 10-year-old Sakura Kinomoto gets raped by her dad and her older brother.

No content warnings, no age restriction at all. It was shocking and I was skeeved out by the whole thing, but it got me thinking that if such a thing existed then maybe there were other people writing different and better stories about TV shows and such out there.

I don't think I suffered any sort of long-lasting trauma, and in fact I suspect that "baptism by fire" made it so I wouldn't freak out too badly whenever I stumbled into the weirder corners of the internet.

LOL wow.

This had to have been 10+ years ago now but I once stumbled upon drawn incest porn of Hogarth and his mother from The Iron Giant while doing a Google image search of something completely unrelated. Grossed me rd out, I was an older teen at the time. Definitely wasn't damaged, though. It's funny to me now.

Yeah, that's the thing. The ACTUAL pedos out there are usually the ones who are only into stuff aimed at kids, not the ones who are shipping two teenage characters in a canon made for older teens/adults.

Yup. The gravitate towards children fandoms for reasons that escape me and I swear their version of “fandom” is just discoursing and pearl clutching.

For recent relevancy see: Animal Crossing fandom and the wank about how hitting a villa ever is “abuse”

(Anonymous) 2020-04-05 02:16 am (UTC)(link)
Lol what. (Is this because jacksepticeye has been hitting Shari?)

(Anonymous) 2020-04-05 02:36 am (UTC)(link)
idk if it has to do with that but just go on Twitter and it’s hard not to come across some dumb anti whining about how people hitting their villagers are violent abusive sociopaths for swatting a bunch of pixels. As much as antis use the talking point about fiction influences reality I’m pretty sure the children who consume the media know cartoons aren’t real and it’s anti fandom itself that has difficulty conflating fiction and reality cause the brain worms they have living in their heads.

But, look, I mean, this is the part that I never understand. I'm sure you could easily find someone saying that on Twitter. There's an infinite supply of every kind of dumbass humanly imaginable on Twitter. And, like, yeah, they suck but I generally try to ignore them as much as possible.

I don't know anything about the hitting villagers thing, but there is A LOT of antis attacking artists for drawing Animal Crossing porn.
