What the hell Amazon

[personal profile] philstar22 2020-04-06 02:58 am (UTC)(link)
So given the current situation and the need to ship important things, Amazon isn't shipping me my books until May 1. Makes total sense.

Today I changed my mind about a book and went in to cancel it. I was told I couldn't because the order was being prepared for shipping. Even though it isn't being shipped for more than 15 days. What the heck?

You're patronizing a corporate monopoly. Not really sure what you were expecting here.

Technically right when the order went through, (as soon as you posted the order) and was processed, (a few minutes after you confirm the order) it counts as being 'prepared to be shipped'.

The book has already been relocated and is probably already it's box right now, but the backlog of orders prevents it from being shipped before both previously made orders held back from emergency supplies/amazon prime members getting preferential treatment.

Also a big thing to note is if you are buying straight from amazon or not. You'll have to contact the actual seller (regardless of if they have been approved by amazon or not) to actually find out if they have processed your package.

If it is amazon and you really want to cancel the order then your best bet is to call in. Free several hours on your schedule and be very patient but even more authoritative that this is what you want to be done.

Whatever happens, best of luck! <3
