I agree! The fans who tell people to skip the first two seasons really get my fur up. Not just because there are incredible episodes in the early seasons ("Duet" anyone?), but the character work that pays off in later seasons didn't come from nowhere, it is an accumulation of all the careful small moments in the early seasons.

There are good episodes in S2 of TNG as well. Measure of a Man is an S2 episode.

And even the 'bad' episodes, like Move Along Home aren't nearly as bad as their reputation.

Honestly? I love Move Along Home. It's a wonderful character episode: mostly for Quark, but certainly we get little insights into the personalities of the four in the game. (And okay, there's something about Fallow that makes me grin.)

(The only ep of DS9 that I generally skip on rewatches is "Profit and Lace," which is 6.23.)

Profit and Lace is one of the few I skip, too. It's...uh...igh. The others I skip are mostly Section 31-related, so also later into the series.
