Yeah, mostly I'm in this same curmudgeonly corner, but there have still been some recent series that I found so good I almost couldn't stand it (e.g., Fleabag S1 and Killing Eve are two that come immediately to mind).

I completely disagree, I get way more enjoyment out of messy, shitty, imperfect cooking than I would out of technical perfection.

Not gonna lie, seeing gifs and such before I actually watched it, I thought he was just going to be boring and bland and expressionless, but seeing him actually in action and playing off of others, Wang Yibo does a FANTASTIC job with this character. Lan Wangji's expressions are different from everyone else's and need to be done EXACTLY and it's so good.

I agree! The fans who tell people to skip the first two seasons really get my fur up. Not just because there are incredible episodes in the early seasons ("Duet" anyone?), but the character work that pays off in later seasons didn't come from nowhere, it is an accumulation of all the careful small moments in the early seasons.

I haven't watched that far yet (I'm only six episodes in), but so far I really like her a lot. Especially a lot more than Xiao Yan.
