this. there is this Chinese dish I make out of ground pork, eggs, tofu and bean thread noodles that tastes yummy (and is like eating a big plate of protein) but looks god awful and I'd never make it for guests.

Yep. A ton of foods are like... bowls full of ingredients and they're AMAZING (and I have never made a soup that didn't just look like vom 99% of the time) but they all still taste amazing.
