Re: I am trying to write a holographic will

There is honestly no point to me writing a will. I have nothing of value. All I have is student loan debt. I have books. My dad might want the Tolkien stuff, but the rest would be donated because the parents are downsizing. They know to shred any work-related files. I can't think of anything else that matters.

I drew up my will at a lawyer a couple of months ago, so I'm all set in that regard. But funeral directions aren't legally binding here, which is annoying. All I can do is ask nicely not to be cremated.

Ah, and see I actually don't care about that, which my parents know. I'm an organ donor, and other than that I told my mother to cremate me. But honestly if she wanted to do something else I'm cool. Once I'm dead I don't need the body anymore.

You may be able to give legal power over your body to someone you trust do carry out your wishes, and that person need not be a blood relative or the default next of kin. Depends on what the law allows, and whether you have someone like that (you definitely want to ask first if they are willing to take on the responsibility - not really a casual acquaintance kind of request).
