If your fandom is long-running (ie. been around for 10 years or more), it's entirely possible that there's fic with A/B that you haven't discovered yet, on some forgotten corner of the internet. Try doing a deep dive of your fandom's old haunts, not just AO3.

I would also start asking around to the more active members of your fandom, especially the ones that do regular recommendations. If they can't offer you anything, then approach the fic writers in your fandom (separately, not in the comments of a fic they've written) and just ask.

Literally all you have to do is ask. Like, "Hey, a fellow XYZ fan here. I noticed you write/rec a lot of fic in our fandom, and that's very cool of you. But I've got a problem. I'm looking for, but can't seem to find, any fic featuring A/B. If you could help me out in any way at all, I'd be very grateful."

Since you're in a small fandom, I'm sure your fellow fans would be more than happy to help you find stuff that's of your ship. Who knows? You could find out that Writer of B/C also lowkey ships A/B, but wasn't feeling confident about her ability to write that ship, and your curious (and non-judgy) question gave her the encouragement she needed to write something new.
