It's a bummer when fandom doesn't buy in on a great ship that you like! Not entitled at all imo

It doesn't make you entitled to be frustrated at not having fic you can enjoy in a small fandom. I'm in a similar situation in one of mine-- A is my favorite character in the movie, A and B meet cute and have a couple great moments, but within the very small fandom, B/C and B/D (or B/C/D) seem to be far more popular, and I just can't really read those relationships that way.

(as a prolific request-filler, I am sorry I don't know what your underappreciated ship is, though I understand why you want to keep it under wraps for secrecy purposes, and though I'm mostly in small fandoms, I can't promise I know yours)

I don’t think it’s entitled of you to feel that way, OP. It’s not like you’re going around demanding people write for your pairing. I get how you feel though and I ended up writing a fic for my own rarepair. It’s pretty bad, so I haven’t posted it, but it was kinda fun to write.

A/B shouldn't get rid of B/C. A/B should be featured alongside B/C. Different strokes (...pun intended?).

Not entitled at all, hell, even if C was a girl, you like what you like and it always sucks when nobody else seems to. (and even worse when they're shipping the other half one of which you hate...)

No, I don't think you're entitled - it's so frustrating when there is no-one who shares your love of a ship. But (and please don't take this the wrong way - I'm not trying to be a dick) please please consider writing your own fic <3 For one, it is so satisfying. For two, it genuinely will encourage others to write the ship. Honestly - be brave :-D

This.

You can also write it and not post it anywhere! No kudos or feedback, but I still find it satisfying.

And if you don't enjoy the act of writing, you can share heacanons and ideas to show that there's enthusiasm for your ship-- it might encourage someone who does enjoy writing to come out of hiding. Some people just need to know there's any kind of audience.

Wanting a thing doesn't make you an entitled brat. Being an asshole and demanding others do this for you would make you an entitled brat. Your feelings and wants aren't bad and don't hurt anyone if you aren't translating it into shitty behavior.

If your fandom is long-running (ie. been around for 10 years or more), it's entirely possible that there's fic with A/B that you haven't discovered yet, on some forgotten corner of the internet. Try doing a deep dive of your fandom's old haunts, not just AO3.

I would also start asking around to the more active members of your fandom, especially the ones that do regular recommendations. If they can't offer you anything, then approach the fic writers in your fandom (separately, not in the comments of a fic they've written) and just ask.

Literally all you have to do is ask. Like, "Hey, a fellow XYZ fan here. I noticed you write/rec a lot of fic in our fandom, and that's very cool of you. But I've got a problem. I'm looking for, but can't seem to find, any fic featuring A/B. If you could help me out in any way at all, I'd be very grateful."

Since you're in a small fandom, I'm sure your fellow fans would be more than happy to help you find stuff that's of your ship. Who knows? You could find out that Writer of B/C also lowkey ships A/B, but wasn't feeling confident about her ability to write that ship, and your curious (and non-judgy) question gave her the encouragement she needed to write something new.
