Thank you, OP. This, so much this. So, so, so much this. It is so disheartening, depressing, and disgusting to see how Carol is talked about. And any time I comment defending her and Big Cat, I get a dozen comments screaming all the rumors and insults about her and then insulting me for daring to disagree with the pile on. And as Jackson Galaxy pointed out in a great video, the show did a great disservice by not using the platform to tell people ways they can fight the treatment of wild cats. Instead it went for sensationalizing and demonizing of the one subject actually doing something good.

Are people really turning on Big Cat Rescue-- an important and well-run organization-- because they're ROOTING for the asshole animal abusers on Tiger King??

That's SO disheartening, oh man... I mean I knew that show was trash and it would be too upsetting to me to watch it, and I try to tune out a lot of the talk about it, but that's beyond gross that that's what people are taking from this.

Not exactly. Mostly I'm seeing more of "they're the same" language. But the focus is on Carole Baskin being evil. And everyone seems convinced she killed her husband.

I mistakenly got into a discussion about the show and was attacked for saying Joe was a piece of shit for trying to hire a hitman. There were all sorts of men excusing his behavior because she "totally fed her husband to those lions". Of course if you asked for any proof they all deflected.

I just don't get it. Even if she had, cartoon style, actually fed her husband to the lions -something I really, really doubt just by the few bits of the show I've seen- that doesn't make ANYTHING Joe Exotic has done "good". He is a piece of shit, no matter if his nemesis is an actual supervillain from comic books or a saint.
