I haven't been able to get a mask, but I try to go off-hours and stay the fuck away from people as much as possible when I'm out there. I don't understand people who don't keep their distance or even acknowledge you are there.

My parents are watching the news, and I walked by. The reporters were talking about people protesting in some state about the current stay-at-home orders and closed economies. There were images of people crowding together against a door to protest, without masks or gloves.

People are idiots. I'm honestly starting to get terrified that this disease is going to stick around and kill us all or keep the rest of us quarantined forever because of these morons.

Yeah, pretty much.

As horrible as it sounds, I don't care if they die if they want to be morons, but it just sucks that they're going around without masks or gloves in public places and potentially infecting people who are trying their best to say safe and don't deserve to die because some people are idiots.

Yeah, this is the part that's really starting to piss me off. My housemates and I have all been at home for a month now. We're obviously clean, and I'm mad that WE can't go out and do things because other people are being stupid selfish fuckers who aren't following social distancing and stay at home and continuing to spread the virus around.

We're not sick! It's perfectly safe for us to interact with other people! But we can't trust that OTHER people aren't sick and won't infect US.

My state had some protestors and they actually *were* wearing gloves and masks and keeping their distance from each other, which is somehow more infuriating than not doing anything. Like you clearly recognize that you need to wear PPE to keep safe so why the fuck do you want us to all go back to work you stupid fucking morons. Honestly I'm so over the 'We can't let the cure be worse than the disease, open the economy now!' assholes. You wanna open up? Fine. First go to a hospital and volunteer to help without PPE, since you seem to think this disease isn't that bad. Take over some shifts for some essential workers who are afraid for their families. Put yourselves on the front line and volunteer to be the cannon fodder, so everyone else who actually wants to stay safe can.

If you have a thick winter scarf, wrap it around your neck and over your mouth and nostrils.

Hmm. Actually, I think I might still have a winter scarf that I lost track of during the move last year. I'll search for it while waiting on my other masks to come in the mail. Thanks!

There's also a lot of different improvised mask tutorials floating around.

Not advocating for this particular one, just found it as a quick sample. I've seen ones with hand towels, handkerchief, shirts or really anything with a decent amount of fabric. Some methods may require destroying the base item, others won't.

These ones also try to give you a filter layer where you can put some paper towels for a small amount of filtering (still better than nothing!). It's more work than wrapping a scarf, but it'll make me feel better.
