OP, have you never experienced the joys of toasted white bread with butter?

Of course I have. Simple and delicious! But a stale or moldy slice of bread? No thanks. Some celebrities have personalities that are equivalent of stale, moldy bread and yet they have fans somehow.

That's what the toasting and buttering do - salvage the stale with flavor only their imagination can provide.

As for moldy, well...that passes bland and goes into foul -- and even then some people are willing to try to cultivate penicillin off it. Alas.

But really, as long as they find the celebrity attractive enough, some people aren't fazed by the dullness therein. And if they're dull, they provide a blank enough slate the person's desired personality traits can be projected upon. As long as that bread stay's behind the baker's shop window, it can be imagined to be as tasty as you want!
