NOPE. and I was even going to make a secret but lol now I'd be accused of contributing to a glut of them on the same topic.

basically, having worked in the music industry, what a lot of people call a celebrity's "persona" is not a persona or a character. it's their customer service face. we all have one, they're just forced to use theirs more frequently because they're almost always in the public eye. like, I'm willing to you-do-you for people who straight up admit they're just writing OCs with real people faces and names, but the ones who try to justify their RPF by claiming that they're writing the personas and not the real people, I can't. that's like writing RPF of the grocery clerk who forces herself to smile in the face of Karen instead of ripping her a new one like she really wants to. it's not a persona, it's just being a human being to other human beings.

Of course, you're the expert, but it seems to me like there's a big difference here when someone's image and persona is embellished and blown up and marketed and leveraged. It seems to me that the clerk down at my grocery store does not have a publicist shaping perception of them and feeding stories to gossip magazines and arranging and controlling interviews, and rarely has their persona transmitted through media appearances and advertising. I don't know, though.

Nah, a persona is a persona. The way I act in different situations are various facets of my public face and if someone wanted to write a fic about business!anon meaning how I come off at work, I'd consider that a different character from graciousfanficauthor!anon or politelyaddressingdistantfamily!anon. They're consciously projected faces, and none of them are really "me" so they might as well be characters

It's the same as an actor doing a bit, just a lesser version of it. Celebs and entertainers in the public eye are basically semi-actors anyway

And if you're claiming all musicians don't have personas and really are the way they're carefully curated and portrayed in media then I... don't believe you've worked in the music industry, because as someone in the media industry,

nnnnnope
