Same here. I pick up a lot more canons where het romance makes up a huge part of the plot and while I do ship the canon het ships, since canon is already giving me what I want I don't feel the need to pick up m/f fics to read.

Yeah, I feel that-- I can see PLENTY of M/F relationships resolve themselves on-screen. Even with my M/F ships where they're platonic/ambiguous in canon, I don't feel the need to seek out fic, because I do feel satisfied by what we see. Yet even with canon m/m or f/f ships, I always feel like there's so much left unexplored!

I love long adventurous stories, it's strange, but I do find that they exist more within m/f than any other matchup. Maybe it's just the fandoms I'm in, while most of my interest is m/m, I've jumped into some m/f fics just for the storylines.

I'm sure there are plenty of het fandoms where this isn't the case, but it definitely was the case with The X-Files fandom. There is so much extremely plotty Mulder/Scully fanfic out there.

ayrt, sorry fr the late reply!

I'm just really not a fan of Mulder. This was a huge reason I never got into X-Files as much as I could. Like I want to like it, but Mulder just doesn't do it for me unfortunately.

Pretty much all the stuff I read is either M/M or F/F. I've just never been into M/F when it comes to fics.

Usually I like to go for a polyship whenever love triangles/squares/etc are considered. But of course the best thing about fanfiction and general headcanons is doing whatever you like :)

I'm so mesmerised by that lovely painting that the point of the secret passes me by!

I'm definitely with you on smut. I rarely, if ever, read M/F smut. It is only M/M or F/F for me. The occasional M/M/F only because I got a bit obsessed with Hux/Kylo/Rey for a while. But other than that, men with men and women with women.

I will read some fluffy one-shots with het occasionally, and with plotty fics I don't mind side pairings.
