Re: Question for the Dany critics

Personally, I'm not a pacifist, but I do hold to a view relatively close to the Just War theory. I think there are basic rules of morality when it comes to war as well as rules as to what wars are and aren't justified. One of the basic rules of morality is you don't target civilians, ever, and you don't target places where there are civilians with weapons you know won't discriminate between soldiers ans civilians. People who haven't chosen to be a part of your conflict are not appropriate targets, period.

Obviously, I wasn't there in either of those circumstances and I also don't know the complete history of either. But you can be the good guys, on the right side, and still do the wrong thing. You can do the wrong thing for the right reasons. I personally don't think targeting civilians is ever justified.

I'm also someone who firmly believes that dropping the atomic bombs were wrong and we should have done it another way. Maybe in terms of numbers less people were killed. Maybe less Americans were killed. But we killed innocent civilians rather than soldiers who had signed up for this. Objectively wrong in my opinion.
