Or maybe he was not talking about people with impairments and disabilities and was talking about Anglophones who don't bother watching any foreign media because why should they when English is the most popular language around the world.

Dude was right. Most foreign media won't get dubbed and won't be able to reach a wider audience because people just want to stick with Anglophone media.

Yup, there are a lot of ignorant people out there who genuinely think foreign films are lesser/shouldn't bother themselves with watching simply because they're not English.

he's not talking about impairments and good reasons to not be able to read subs. I'm not surprised assholes on the internet would twist his words to be anti-dub but they're just assholes, not authorities on the topic. give their assholery no weight and treat them with the 'lol no' it deserves.

I'm someone who is often reluctant to watch a subtitled film, and I still largely agree with him.

I mean, the reason I find subtitles frustrating is because I find it difficult to judge the quality of the acting when its a subtitled film, and I really love taking in the nuances and subtleties of an acting performance. Also, sometimes I just want to be passive and let the entertainment do the work for me. And that's fine.

But there is so much excellent cinema out there that's not in english, and a lot of people seem to not realize that. So I have no problem with him pointing it out.

Yep. Funny how people whose native language isn't English seem to have no trouble consuming subbed media, isn't it?

Because they're forced to. If there were as many dubs available in their language as there are English language media, they'd choose to be lazy too.

Nope, there are dubbed versions available, I avoid them like a plague. The fact that there are two versions available in many place is a testament to teh fact that many people do prefer subs.
