it really can run the gamut -- from Zahara Con Las Ganas to Nine Inch Nails Discipline/ Something I can never have

Thanks!

thank you! The Crystals song is hella dark.

also (hopefully not coming off like a weirdo):
1) love the Reylo stuff you've got on your page (Been on a Driver/ Reylo fix lately)
2) never read the poem "Yes, Of Course It Hurts" -- it's a thing of beauty, gonna look into the rest of the poet's work!

You're welcome, op!

The Crystals song was co-written by Carole King and produced by Phil Spector - the former is interesting trivia to me and the latter, knowing his history, seems like something he'd have a girl group sing. I originally discovered it from the various Hole bootlegs I bought as a teen. I figured the very original with its upbeat approach would fit best, since I know Courtney's singing isn't for everyone. I did always like her addition of, "Baby won't you stay" in the song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uwR4P7rU4w0

1. Oh, goodness, you don't come off like a weirdo at all! I recently came back to my dw account to revamp it and include other social media account links, so I'm glad you went peeking around and found things you like. Reylo has probably been my longest running fandom so far with the most reward, as I normally like smaller characters/actors/pairings so it's such a wonderful change to have so much content from the canon and fan works. And finally, with Adam, an actor I enjoy who makes a varied body of work I actually love watching.

2. Wonderful! I discovered Karin Boye a few years back and Yes, Of Course It Hurts made a mark on me (and many others, since it's her most popular poem). Her whole life story is fascinating and sad, and her writing captures a feeling I can't quite place or explain.

Great!

Huh, I don't think I've ever listened to Courtney Love -- I listened to the link, and it's definitely a version (it was cool!) I always enjoy when an artist takes a song and really does the genre shift/transformation (even if I'm not terribly fond of it). I am partial to girl groups and the general Motown/Soul/Doo Woop Sound, early pop in those veins, so I really did enjoy listening to the Crystals. I really enjoy Carole King, but had no idea that man was involved in it...

2. Grand! I tend to like the smaller ships/rare pairs myself, so this is one fandom I lucked out in. I will take to perusing your accounts! It's really well put together! Driver is enjoyable to watch. I've been meaning to watch Lucky Logan and Patterson...I guess I'll try this weekend.

3. I love poetry like that. Thanks again for the intro (and the other poets you likely have linked in your image sets --which are so pretty to look at btw and make me want fic I'm too lazy to write)

Courtney's definitely an acquired taste. She expressed a lot of the anger and sadness that resonated with me for a formative period of my life and her knowledge of women in music opened up more genres for me, like the Ronettes and the Crystals. Those two were the girl groups Spector was most known for, and any music he produced is one of those rare occasions where I have to separate the art from the artist. I need to look more into Motown/Doo Wop! I went through a period of time recently listening to a lot of The Temptations, but I need to do more digging.

I end up loving the type of pairings that take me by surprise in canon and while handled well in the canon itself, there's not as much fandom interest (or I liked it enough in canon not to need much more). Reylo becoming a juggernaut and canon was more than I could ask for, so I'll be keeping it as my fandom for a long time. I hope you enjoy going through them! Lately my only interests on tumblr are reblogging reylo gifsets and looking up '80s aesthetics, so I've been trying to make it more varied. Logan Lucky and Paterson are my favorites of his outside of being Ben Solo, along with The Report. Paterson is especially lovely, so if you can make time for any of his films, that's the one to see.

You're very welcome! And thank you! I find poetry often pairs up much better with graphics than song lyrics do, and now that the 4k/bluray screencap sites have TROS screencapped, I've been getting ideas again. I know everyone's made something using parts of this poem before, but finally I have a pairing I can use the true or false portion for. If you do happen to write fic, I'd love to read it!

The Oceanographer’s Choice by The Mountain Goats (and No Children, too)
Pride by Lana Del Rey
High By The Beach by Lana Del Rey
Say Hello Wave Goodbye by David Gray
Just Tonight by The Pretty Reckless

Hands Clean by Alanis Morrisette, if you want one that's straight up about a man in a position of power sexually abusing a teenager and acting like it's a relationship.

On the slightly more “romantic” side, there’s Stay by Rhianna, A Million Reasons by Lady Gaga, and Try by Pink. They all acknowledge the relationship is unhealthy, but are ambivalent about staying.
