one of my fandoms is a non-Supernatural long-runner and I've also had the experience of seeing characters grow up and visibly age and like... it really IS reassuring?

DA - I wish I felt this way. I tend to find it kind of sad and unnerving. I watched all ten seasons of friends over the course of about eight months, and I was sad to see them age. I mean, they were all still fairly good looking by the end, but I don't think any of them ended the show as good looking as they'd started it. I found myself thinking back to the earlier seasons and remembering that (for lack of a less cheesy term) bloom of youth they'd had.

I wish I could look at them and be warmed by seeing them slowly age. I'm 32 myself, and I look young but I can definitely see myself aging. I'm trying to have some equanimity about it, but it's tough.
