Comment but not secret OP here and this hit extra hard because not only do I love attending the con, I live here and revenue from con related stuff (hotel taxes, money spent at local businesses by attendees, etc) is actually a not-insignificant part of the city’s budget. Comic-Con’s cancellation (along with SD Pride, iirc) means projected budget cuts go from 12 to 16 percent. Park and Rec and libraries, arts funding, grant programs, and things like that were already gonna take a huge hit from the reduction in tourist revenue generally. Now it’s worse.
