I saw Stephenie Meyer had finally released Midnight Sun and had a nostalgic urge to go read Cleolinda's recaps of the old leak... but then I remembered that Cleolinda got outed as a scamming psycho who was best friends with Jen, the mastermind from the legendary FFVII house, and now I'm not sure if I want to give her old blogs the traffic.

TLDR; weird 15-year-old fandom shit no one cares about.

(Anonymous) 2020-05-04 10:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Man, that is an absolute fucking throwback

(Anonymous) 2020-05-04 10:57 pm (UTC)(link)
What? Do you have a link to the Cleolinda outing?

(Anonymous) 2020-05-04 11:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Cleolinda what now?

But lol to worrying about traffic. I'm pretty sure LJ traffic is nothing these days. You reading one post is hardly ~supporting her.

(Anonymous) 2020-05-04 11:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Have you got links for that? I was friends with Cleolinda back in the Journalfen days, and I've never heard anything about that.

(Anonymous) 2020-05-04 11:04 pm (UTC)(link)
I remember reading the leak and what I remember wasn't that good, but it's been ages, so Midnight Sun might be okay. Maybe. I'm still really disappointed that it wasn't a sequel for The Host.

Who's this Cleolinda person though? I wasn't heavily invested in fandom back then, but I'd love to hear about some old drama.

(Anonymous) 2020-05-05 12:26 am (UTC)(link)
She used to post movie parodies and TV/book recaps. She recapped all the Twilght books.

(Anonymous) 2020-05-04 11:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh wow, I'd forgotten all about that Cleolinda business!

(Anonymous) 2020-05-04 11:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Jen who and what now? I liked Cleolinda’s stuff, what did she do?

(Anonymous) 2020-05-05 12:49 am (UTC)(link)
This is an in-depth video about Jen and the Final Fantasy house.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lFRjrLmc_4c

The video the anon above me links to is interesting and informative, but it doesn't mention anything about Cleolinda - unless one of the players in the FF7 drama was actually Cleolinda by another name.

My googling suggests Cleolinda was in contact with a person who was a major playing the the Hannibal fandom. This person ran the fanblog tattle-crime and called themself Freddie Lounds.

Another person from the Hannibal fandom has extensively accused the tattle-crime/Freddie Lounds person of being Jen - the crazy FF7 cultist - up to her same old crazy cultist bullshit in a new fandom.

However, the person doing the accusing does not seem entirely stable themselves, and I did find this one reddit:

https://www.reddit.com/r/Drama/comments/6aor0f/the_fannibal_cult_and_the_crazed_stalker/

Also, I haven't been able to find any info about how Cleolinda was involved in all of this, besides the fact that she communicated publically with the tattle-crime/Freddie Lounds person and seemed to support them in their fannishness.

By all means, links are very much welcomed by me. This whole thing is fascinating - in a very disturbing way - and I would like to know more.

(Anonymous) 2020-05-06 02:14 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you for the thorough response. Upon review of these links and other comments in this thread, my takeaway is that ultimately, none of this is interesting or relevant to me, and doesn’t color my past enjoyment of certain movie parodies. Neat. On with life. :D

ngl I'm loving the stark divide between those of us who understand what you're talking about and those who don't <3

(Anonymous) 2020-05-05 07:58 am (UTC)(link)
lmao I know, this is how you find out how many people on DW used to be fandom wankers XD

(Anonymous) 2020-05-05 02:26 am (UTC)(link)
Do you have a link to an account of how Cleolinda was involved with Jen? I'd heard about the Final Fantasy House before, but I just watched a detailed video account of that. Then I googled a bit and learned that Cleolinda apparently knew and spoke to Tattle-Crime (do we have factual confirmation Tattle-Crime is Jen?) when TC was doing the whole Freddie Lounds, Hannibal fandom thing.

But how was Cleolinda involved? What did she actually do?

(Anonymous) 2020-05-05 07:56 am (UTC)(link)
I seem to remember going down a tattle-crime rabbit hole where they claimed that Cleolinda had worked for Jen for about 2 years. She's an intelligent woman and I find it hard to believe she wouldn't have known about Jen's scams, so they surmised she was complicit.

There's this video, "Who is Cleolinda Jones?" which explores her connections to Jen:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UlfktYc4ijo

(Anonymous) 2020-05-05 09:50 am (UTC)(link)
I am not trying to criticize you at all, here, but wow, there’s just so much that’s weird with this whole thing.

Like, I do find the person who ran Tattle-Crime and went by Freddie Lounds incredibly suspicious, and it does seem pretty likely that she is Jennifer Cornett of the FF7 House. I just wish there were concrete proof.

Also, I don’t trust the person “exposing” her one bit. Almost all the “expose” material you can find on this whole thing is curated by this one single person. That is already a little bit of a question mark for me. But then you get this reddit post where it is claimed that the person attempting to expose Jen(?) is a user who previously went by the name MissMisanthropy, and was a volatile person who had, herself, become persona non grata within multiple communities, including the Hannibal fandom.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Drama/comments/6aor0f/the_fannibal_cult_and_the_crazed_stalker/

And you can definitely see her volatility and obsessiveness coming through in her posts to thelifestream message boards:

https://thelifestream.net/forums/threads/jen-the-sarah-saga-and-where-she-went.17745/

First, the way she keeps posting repeats of the same posts over and over when they don’t appear instantaneously. And then, by page three, she becomes quite clearly angry and hostile to the other people posting to thelifestream (even though they remain chill), and blames them for “letting Jen get away.” Three full years after posting to thelifestream forum for the first time, she still comes back to rail at them for their “stupidity.”

Also, she comes across as weirdly hostile to Cleolinda in that video you linked me to - going out of her way to speak ill of Cleolinda every chance she gets. Such as when she says Cleolinda “writes insanely bad parodies that aren’t even funny,” calls Cleolinda’s wiki page “sad,” and seems extremely salty that CNN did a tiny piece on Cleo.

The hostility of the vidder may not be immediately obvious to everyone, because she speaks in a calm, flat voice. But the words she’s saying are unmistakably hostile. Cleolinda’s parodies were widely considered hilarious, so to call them “insanely bad and not even funny” without ANYTHING to indicate that it’s purely an opinion, is just weird. And acknowledging someone has a Wiki page only to call it sad? WTF? That is so weird.

Do I think Freddie Lounds of Tattle-Crime was Jen? Probably. Do I believe Cleolinda had a friendship of some sort with her? Seems that way.

But wow, I do not trust the person who made that video you linked me to at all. Even if her information does turn out to be legit, her perspective is clearly biased as fuck.

(Anonymous) 2020-05-05 09:56 am (UTC)(link)
ayrt and honestly, I agree with you. The vidder obviously has some personal stake in this. Cleolinda's writing is very funny and she's popular for a reason.

It seems like everyone involved in this drama is an absolute fruitcake including the youtuber, but to me that only makes it weirder that Cleolinda does seem to have some link to Jen, even if they're only 'friends' or whatever. Why would you be friends with a sociopathic cult scammer who has ruined the lives of dozens of vulnerable people? It doesn't make any sense. Obviously none of us know Cleolinda in real life and we can only speculate on the nature of the relationship, but it's weird she's even involved at ALL, let alone in what capacity.

I knew I'd read some stuff in the past about how Cleolinda was involved, but was frustrated when I couldn't find it again. I had a quick browse of my old bookmarks, and surprise! She had a whole page on tattlecrime.org, but it's mysteriously disappeared in the last 2 years. You can still find it on the Wayback machine, though.

https://web.archive.org/web/20180610041332/http://www.tattlecrime.org/cleolinda-jones/

Whoever wrote this definitely has some sort of grudge and I'd bet my month's food bill it's the same person that made the "Who Is Cleolinda?" youtube video someone linked below. Cleo wrote bad fanfiction?? News to me. But whether it's grudgy or not, it's still weird that Cleo was involved with Jen and her schemes in any capacity. She was very active on F_W back in the day and couldn't fail to know all about Jen and her cult. The stuff on the link about social media is vague, but clearly this person thinks they have some sort of damning evidence.

The write up also claims that Cleo was on Jennifer's staff and attended conventions on her behalf? That's a pretty bold claim to make it if not true, because hundreds of convention goers could prove it wrong if it's bullshit.

There's clearly something going on here, but I doubt any of us will ever know exactly what it was.

I'm surprised and weirded out by this as I remember always liking Cleo and her posts.

Yeah, IDK. It's not that I think Cleolinda is totally innocent of all wrong. And for the record, I've never spoken a word to any of these people personally. I just know that Cleolinda was always a funny, civil, well-spoken presence in fandom, any time I saw her, and she never seemed prone to erratic, rude, or self-aggrandizing behavior.

Meanwhile, this MissMisanthropy/Monica Edwards/whoever the fuck else she is, seems profoundly biased, deeply vindictive, and frankly obsessed with this whole thing. Also, she speaks with a lot of conviction, but when you break it down, she has surprisingly little proof to back up anything she says.

I don't want to let Cleolinda off the hook completely, and I'd be open to taking a much stronger stance against her given some hard evidence, or even some anecdotal evidence by ANYONE other than MissMisanthropy.

But the more I look into this, the more it's MissMisanthropy who skeeves me the fuck out. Who the fuck knows about Cleolinda, but I've seen plenty enough to feel confident in saying MissMisanthropy is vindictive and volatile.

Yeah I absolutely agree. And it's honestly wack to see all these old names crop up, like jumping back in time to LJ drama days.

Anyone got a link to the really long post exposing the FF house drama?

(Anonymous) 2020-05-05 08:02 am (UTC)(link)
http://www.demon-sushi.com/warning/

The people involved all seem like flakes tbh, even the other 'supportive' accounts, and the webmaster was clearly a vulnerable young transperson who got mixed up in shit over his head. I feel like there's drama and craziness on all sides, but it's crystal clear Jen is the worst of the bunch because she just keeps cropping up again and again and again and again. She's always the common denominator. I think she and Amy Player/Victoria Bitter/Thanfiction/Andy Blake need to fight to the death for the crown of Most Manipulative Fandom Cult Leader.

Thank you!

I can find nothing about how Cleolinda was involved in any of that. Links or it didn't happen.
