It's about showing off this wild subculture of people who breed/own/exploit (and therefor, yes, abuse) big cats and all of their drama. Joe Exotic goes to jail mainly because he was convicted of abusing animals (trying to have a human woman murdered being less exciting I guess) and even Doc Antle got investigated for possible animal abuse (again, abusing his human women workers just not as exciting).
It is also just so over the top insane while apparently being real you just can't look away. It's kind of amazing.
You can either ignore it or actually watch it, judging people from the outside kind of just makes you a poor friend.
