Oh, man, yes. An OT3 or 4 is *totally* different from an x/x 'ship. I actually had a friend, years ago, who was in a poly 'ship; she and another woman and a man. They were together for quite a few years, but the dynamic was totally different, and had some really different kinds of challenges.
