Because the default human is male, even in the medical world, and if you're not both presenting and communicating symptoms in the exact way a man would, you're a silly woman having silly woman problems and need to either see a gyno or realize it's all in your head.

I had a woman doctor who not only wouldn't take my "woman problem" seriously (yeast infection) but the bitch LAUGHED at me.

yeah....that's happened to me too. Or they criticize you like they automatically assume it's your fault for being predisposed toward getting certain things. :/

I feel you. After years of struggling and failing to fix my sleep-cycle, I went to my doctor and requested sleeping pills. I explained that I was constantly going to work on two or three hours of sleep, because I couldn't sleep earlier than 3 or 4 AM, no matter what I did, and my job sometimes required me to get up quite early.

She refused to give me a prescription, and her response was, and I quote, "Can you get a different job?"

I DON'T KNOW, JANICE, CAN YOU GET A DIFFERENT JOB?


That said, I honestly have had more shitty male doctors that don't listen to me and don't take me serious than female doctors who've done the same. But male doctors don't have a monopoly on that shit.

Some doctors are incredibly shitty about any genital or genital-adjacent infection.
