My ABSOLUTE FAVORITE genre is 'World A is having a crisis and gets help from/accidentally affects/bleeds into World B and now everyone's gotta work together'. Especially if multiple world hopping is involved. I used to seek those out like crack when I first got into reading fic in the late 90s, but they seem very rare now.
