Yeah, agreed. The whole "If they don't see how wonderful you are they're an idiot who doesn't deserve you" thing sucks, no matter where it's used.

Like, I get wanting to make a vulnerable person feel better, but some situations call for learning how to cope with hard truths, such as that sometimes people just don't feel for us what we want them to, and it's nobody's fault. It's not a failing on our part or their part. It just is.
