i think it makes perfect sense to hate that joke especially if there's superiority creep into that sentiment, but there's literally nothing so standard about poly relationships, or like....relationships in general, that suggest that there needs to be a different dynamic, lmao. it can absolutely just be tweaking. you don't have to like it or read it, but it can absolutely be written as a +1.
