Doing my taxes, yay, and washing my sheets. Other than that, taking it easy. Watching some Rizzoli and Isles. Sitting with a heating pad. Currently watching my kitty entertain herself by being a little acrobat on her cat tree.

I went out this morning to the Persian bakery down the street and got iced coffee and a pastry. I'm not really familiar with Persian sweets so I try a new pastry or cookie every time I go there, and today what I tried was a very thin, crisp, oval shaped piece of fried phyllo dough about the size of my hand, sticky with honey and sprinkled with coconut and pistachios. It was good by itself but really brought out the dark smokiness of the iced coffee. They also make their own rosewater cakes, which are bomb af (but they were out today waaah).

Did a grocery run; gonna hit up another store to get some things the first didn’t have a bit later. Gonna make banana bread or muffins with some bananas I ignored until they got spotty, and potato salad with lots of other veggies, so I’ll have breakfasts and lunches for the work week.

Watering my yard right now; lots of stuff blooming and happy bees, and there’s a black phoebe nesting in the carport, so the back door of my house is off limits. Managed to soak myself with the hose, oops. Worrying about a sick chicken. Gonna whack back the weed forest out front, and hopefully lug some stuff to the laundromat because it’s too overcast for stuff to dry outside. I don’t know if I’ll get everything done before my energy runs out, but I’m gonna try.

Talked to my mom on the phone for a bit earlier but mostly I've just been reading, watching TV, playing games on my phone, and I listened to part of a podcast that I'm going to listen to the rest of before I go to bed tonight. I managed to read about 25% of a book in one sitting this morning, which normally wouldn't mean anything, but I haven't been able to concentrate on reading lately, so I'm glad I finally found something that can hold my interest (The Starter Wife by Nina Laurin in case anyone's interested).

Went to work, finished some lineart earlier too! Was hoping to do more tonight, but right now I'm finishing up some reading for my class tomorrow. Overall it was okay, watched some anime too!

Ebay gripe. I bought 2 items from a seller, asked if they could combine shipping, they said yes. I said great send me an invoice and I will pay you for the items. So I see this morning that ebay has opened a non payment case against me for the items because I haven't paid and it's been 2 days, and I'm still waiting for the damn invoice (I sent a reminder to the seller about the invoice this morning).

I want to purchase multiple items from another seller, so I asked them if they would combine shipping, they also said yes. I said great how do you want to proceed, and they said they'd post a separate auction for me, give me the auction number, and I could purchase from there. I said great...and I'm still waiting for the auction number (I've checked the seller's listings, it's not there).

I get that things are batshit right now. It's just frustrating feeling like I have to get every ball rolling myself, and I'm over here like SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY, and nothing. And these are nice sales, both over $25.00, it's not like I'm getting my panties in a bunch over 99 cents. I'm being patient, but...I've already got the afore-mentioned non payment case.

I was working in the garden and cut my finger. It is a cut UNDER the nail of my thumb. I tried to get the dirt out of the cut but almost threw up because of how bad it hurt. Here is hoping my thumb doesn't fall off. :( Hurts like hell.

Yahoo mail has made it difficult to use adblock. There is a workaround, but it involves regularly refreshing the page and is still annoying. It has put up a "do you really want to be using adblock" sort of popup for a while, but it used to be easy to get rid of. Now you can't get rid of the popup (unless you block the page element and then refresh the page).

I get ads being a thing for a lot of websites. But a major email site should not be forcing ads on users.

I'm a cashier and this week will be the second time in a row where I'll have to work till 10pm on Friday (which means more like 10.30 till we're out) and be back at work at 8.45 the next morning. Friday and Saturday are our busiest days and especially in these times, people are crabby and it's even more stressful. I can't even enjoy the Sunday afterways because it's so exhausting. :(
(Sundays most things are closed here. I'm not in the US, so my job is hard and underappreciated but it does have more perks.)

Another one of my hens is sick and not eating, and I’m worried that she won’t make it until I can take her to the vet this week, assuming my vet is back (she was ill in March, hopefully not with covid) and that it might be cancer again; I just lost one to cancer right at the start of shutdown. She’s not even three yet, but neither was the other I lost and I don’t know what else might be wrong unless she ate something made of metal and it’s poisoning her. :-(

Also work is nerve wracking right now, even though we’re not open to the public, and getting to and from work is even more so, because everyone still taking public transit can’t afford not to work if they’re sick, is an asshole who refuses to wear a mask despite it now being illegal, or both. There’s not enough room for everyone to stay six feet apart, either.

Self, why the fuck can't you stay off of subs and message boards where people say stupid shit that gets under your skin? Why must you engage them, knowing no minds will be changed, knowing it's completely pointless, because they will only double down on their stupid shit? And why the fuck do you do the thing where you go "eep!" and run away when you see a reply? What do you expect is going to happen when you call someone on their stupid shit?

teal deer it's not your job to call out stupid shit, but when you do, quit being such a little bitch about it.

Not being american/english in fandoms can really be exhausting sometimes

Not as bad as the Bad Sex Writing awards usually given to clueless male novelists trying to write literary fiction, just bad or awkward sex descriptions in fanfic. I once read a fic that described the act of the male character thrusting into the female character's vagina as "he dove into her" and was like... nah, man. It's too ridiculous. You dove dick-first into this lady? Your whole body plunged into her punani?
