Palmer, of course, is terrible, and this has really completed my move to thinking that Gaiman also completely sucks. Both of them seem to be pretty ridiculous

Relationships end all the time. Celebrity relationships end on average even more frequently than other relationships. I don't see why this is any different. We don't know what happened or why it ended. I don't see how it ending says any of the things about them you think it does.

I 75% agree with this. But even as someone who knows very little about Amanda Palmer and is disinclined to hate her, that tweet does seem unnecessarily extra for a public statement.

well gaiman, instead of just finding some other place on NZ to go decided to go to the uk which seems like a shit thing to do to your kid in the midst of global pandemic, so people are realizing that gaiman may actually be kinda trash in general rather than like as a partner. that's different.

It's weird - reading these, I get the impression Palmer is doing her best to stir up shit and get attention/hugs/people on her side, and Gaimen is like 'yeah, this is happening, it's private, please respect that', like - wtf, why did she drag our kid into this.

I have *zero* knowledge of their relationship and frankly don't care, but i don't get a 'dirty old man' vibe from this at all....

Seconding your entire comment. I knew little about Palmer before today, but the way she comes off in her tweets etc is really off-putting to me. Her need for drama and attention seems volatile and a bit out of control. Especially in contrast to Gaimen, who honestly seems like his biggest damage is being the kind of person who would think it was a good idea to marry someone because "being with them would never be boring."

I mean they both have a bad case of wanting to be characters in a Tim Burton movie in real life, but they're also both relatively harmless. Like, I can see getting this excited about a marriage breaking up if, say, Melania threw over Donald because she was having a torrid affair with Vicente Fox, but the amount of glee that some people are getting out of this B-list celebrity breakup seems excessive. Quarantine cabin fever has people desperate for drama, I guess.

I'm not the OP but I'm on the list of people who have a massive hateon for Palmer. I don't even know why. I used to be a big fan of Gaiman and I almost completely lost interest in him when he took up with her. My head is ringing with the sounds of the Hallelujah Chorus right now at the thought that they might split or have split (because schadenfreude scans to hallelujah, don't you know).
