As long as you are not one of those people who get involved in fandom charity auctions and then won't produce anything for the winner who paid for the story/art. There are always some flakes in all events, but don't be one of those assholes.

Ooh. That sounds frustrating. I'm not always just procrastinating, though I do sometimes. I have serious health issues and I never know in advance when I'm going to be useless for a good chunk of time. It limits my ability to commit to anything. I don't work, I'm not allowed to drive. But yes, I am very aware that I'm not reliable in the slightest. Lol.

I have health issues, too, so I can almost guarantee that I'll miss deadlines for submissions or not be able to participate in live chats. I so want to be a part of my fandom, but I know there's a good probability that I'll vanish at some point during all the fun. I don't want to disappoint other folks in the fandom because it's my escape from all the other real world stuff. If I promised to write something and didn't do it, it would just make me feel too guilty to show my username again.

I think that's really nice and responsible of you, OP. I used to run a fanfic exchange and dealing with people who regularly overestimated their ability to keep in touch and follow through was the biggest pain in the ass.

Same here. The ones that terrify me the most are the artist and writers pair up events - I like drawing but I'm not THAT good so I know that anyone that gets stuck with me are probably going to hate whatever I come up with.

I've been in several and only once got art, so I'd much rather someone not that great who gets something finished than someone who is enthusiastic then never seen again.

Well, yes and no. I've run exchanges and share the frustration of no-shows, but boy have I had some truly terrible art gifts.

i like land comms and stuff like that where you can have fun and contribute when you have time. but if you end up not getting around to it it's not like there's somebody on the other end waiting on you haha. i feel you
