I was pretty meh on it until the current game so my first reaction is just...people like different things? But the newest game in particular has had a spike in popularity and tbh it's largely due to the release date coinciding with people being home a lot more due to the pandemic. I know I would not normally be playing this much. Gaming websites probably wouldn't be talking about it this much and your twitter probably would not be flooded with it the way my wife's is. But yeah, people like what they like. They'll stop talking about it. Eventually.
