Mostly asking because I just came across 'Sunrise' from In the Heights and I can't stop listening to it.

Also my favorite musical is probably Hello Dolly.

Non-Disney- Lord of the Rings musical, The Road Goes Ever on

Excluding The Lion King, my favorite musical is probably Phantom of the Opera.

For song, does Habanera from Carmen count? Not sure if opera is considered a musical. Maria Ewing's rendition is my favorite.

All of Les Mis, especially the full cast numbers.

Oh hell yes, I love musicals. Let's see... I don't know if I have an absolute favourite musical, because there's a lot of factors that go into something like that and I tend to listen to a soundtrack until I get sick of it, but favourite songs...

I don't even know where to start on animated movies, but The Plagues from Prince of Egypt is a bloody masterpiece, the chorus is just magnificent.

I like Fiddler on the Roof a lot.

Ayrt - I actually can't listen to Sunrise, Sunset at the moment because it's too emotionally devastating. They played it at my grandfather's memorial last year, and it was like the dial marked "tears" for turned from 0 to 10 all in one go.
I still love it, but yeah.

I'm sure your grandfather was a wonderful man, hugs if you want them.

He was actually physically and psychologically abusive to my father, and he had a lot of untreated PTSD, but thank you. His suicide really fucked me up for a while there.

Favorite song: Consider Yourself (though I do love Wouldn't It Be Loverly from My Fair Lady and both versions of Agony from Into the Woods)

i love someone like you from jekyll & hyde. i don't make it a habit to be on stage rather than backstage, but it was my go to audition song for a while recently.

wizard and i from wicked is an eternal bop of course. i'm obsessed w the ariana cover lately.

and literally like the week after my area when into quarantine i was supposed to play ms. teavee in willy wonka. the version i am in has a cute duet with mike and i like it for sentimental reasons. BUT i found the song it's teavee time from the london version of charlie and the chocolate factory (which is an entirely different show, script and songs and all) and holy shit it's intense lmao. it'd have been fun to sing but boy howdy is some of that shit topical.

Favourite overall musicals: Jeff Wayne’s “War of the Worlds” (highlights: ‘Spirit of Man’ and ‘Thunderchild’) and Les Miserables (highlights: ‘The Confrontation’, ‘Master of the House’, ‘Empty Chairs’). I actually hated WotW for years as a kid, because my parents used to listen to it in the car and it freaked me the hell out, but I grew into it and now it’s awesome.

Individual songs I like from musicals:
‘Falcon in the Dive’ from “The Scarlet Pimpernel” I actually haven’t seen the whole show, I was just looking for Terrence Mann on youtube, but I found this song and I absolutely adore it’s bloody-toothed vindictiveness
‘Die Schatten Werden Langer’/’Yami ga Hirogaru’ from “Elisabeth”. I have watched several versions of this song in both German and Japanese and it never gets old watching how people interpret Death and Rudolf’s fatal interaction
‘The Transformation’ from “Jekyll & Hyde”, particularly the Anthony Warlow version, because wow there is a man going off the deep end in deep-growling style

All of these are amazing songs! I completely agree with all of these choices!

I have nothing to add, but I'm writing a story where my main character is a Theater Kid, and this thread is very valuable, so thank you! :D

I like all the songs from Chicago, but I think All That Jazz is my favorite.
