Re: Hate my job

(Anonymous) 2020-05-14 12:30 am (UTC)(link)
my coworkers at Joann fabrcs have said that the past two weeks we've been open curbside-only have been the best two weeks to work ever. the staff all love each other and get along great, but customers are the literal worst. we only just started reopening to customers as of yesterday, with store capacity limits, and they're all already awful.

basically, while retail is apparently 90% of our economy to hear the pundts talk (and fuck 'em honestly) it's also the job where the workers get the most shit, has some of the highest turnover, and we all know that it's the customers that make it shit. retail will prove to anyone that people suck. and then we're shit on by politics and economy because even if we're ""essential"" we're also the ones basically being forced to risk our lives, our health, our families, and our tiny, tiny paychecks just so Brenda can get something for her quilt. we get no benefits, no perks, not even a goddamn thank you most days, and yet we're the ones shouldernig the burden of this so-called reopening the economy. we are expendable and we have no choice but to sit back and take it up the ass because otherwise we'd be broke and on the streets.

fuck me, I hate everything. /sad fistbump of retail solidarity
