So in the past couple of days a few keys on my keyboard have randomly decided to stop working? I'd understand the problem if it were all the keys or they were iffy all the time, but it's only the W, E, R, and left control keys that seem to have this problem, and sometimes they'll fix themselves just as randomly as they'll break. It doesn't feel like anything's trapped under those keys either, though that may not rule out that possiblity.

Has anyone else had this problem or something akin to it?

That happened to me a few years ago, where several keys stopped working completely for a few days, and then started working again... I still have no idea why that happened. Hopefully your keyboard will fix itself too, though? Because otherwise I'm afraid I'm not sure what the problem is.

Yeah, keys don't always feel like something's stuck under them - might be just too much dust or the contacts oxidized over time. You could try getting a can of pressurized air to better clean under the keys and see if that works?

You could try compressed air in the wells first, then pry up one if that doesn't work, just to make sure there's nothing under them. It could also be a loose connector. But sometimes keyboard components can wear out. I did have to replace the keyboard on my last laptop, though I had that laptop a really long time. I just ordered the right part on Amazon for a fairly reasonable price (<$20) and then opened up my laptop and installed the new one. My last laptop was awful to get into - like, 15 external and 8 internal screws - but once I did it was fairly straightforward to replace the keyboard.

That happened to me, and it turns out I'd spilled like a drop or two of water on those keys without realizing it. (I was a Macbook, and they wanted a ton of money to replace it, so I just used a bluetooth keyboard when it got worse.)
