Comment OP here and you caught me; I’m also a Christine/Erik shipper. I think what makes me uneasy about Evey/V is that, unlike most of my fucked up ships, V thought he was helping Evey by torturing her. Erik was a selfish bastard who lied to and threatened Christine with horrors, but Christine is never shown as wrong to be fucking furious about it.

Unlike most of my other ships, V wasn’t romantically interested in Evey, or she in him, until after he’d basically psychologically broken her. He made her into a more dedicated, driven, fearless person, but literally like someone molding and firing clay, in the “beat the shit out of, reshape, and put through a furnace” sense.

The film does a pretty good job of showing that most of V’s actions, however horrific, were justified by what he was up against, but that even he knew what he’d done to Evey was cruel and horrible even though she thanked him and came to love him in the end.
