AYRT - Yeah, this is definitely a big part of it. I think there also tends to be a slightly different focus. Like, with a lot of the virgin!M/M fics I read, the fic is very clear on the fact that the guy isn't better because he's a virgin. His virginity has no objective effect on his value in any way. It's just hot because it kindles the top's possessive feelings, and also their protective feelings. Whereas with a female!virgin, it often feels like the fic is saying she's more valuable because she's a virgin.
