I ship Sesshoumaru x Rin and I don't see what the big deal is about it, especially here. He wasn't grooming her the way real-life predators do. He literally just helped a little girl for a certain amount of time and developed a less callous view of humanity.

I made a late comment on the secret from yesterday which labeled exactly why (though albeit sloppily) relationships such as this simply didn't work for me. Most of it being that in the sense that Sesshoumaru despite not having any ill intentions to prey on Rin, and even despite the less callous view of humanity she enabled him to have, means nothing in the long term regarding a romantic relationship. There is a huge difference between a protector, a learner, and a lover, especially in this case in particular.
Rin hero-worshiped him, by all means probably crushed on him all the same, but that is the typical result of a child being taken in and protected, in such a way Sesshoumaru did with Rin.
At this point Rin might love him with all her preteen heart will allow, but as her protector, and as the authority over her, it's simply, completely, and utterly, inappropriate to take advantage of some child's love she has no choice but to form due to the fact she had no other comparison or comprehension of what her feeling might truly mean.
Even as an adult she is still the one in his care, it doesn't necessarily have to be a father/child dynamic, Just one that acknowledges Sesshoumaru becoming more sympathetic towards humans through Rin, and that being his first real impression on human beings as a whole. (Kinda, you know what I mean) His limited knowledge on humans would only become more fixed as she could only be a child to him, and just as he never had any intentions towards her as a child, the same would stand no matter how old she became, if only because Sesshoumaru wouldn't regard her differently if he even noticed her ageing and what that might mean to another human being.
