my place is talking about curbside (limited launch already) and limited numbers and product handling rules and distance and front of house trading only and direction arrows etc

but my job is returns and whinging - i have to work in close quarters with customers and their products (which have been in their houses for months) and i fully expect to get corona from the shit somebody's got wedged in their vacuum cleaner

i've seen company guidelines already which say that places on restricted processes should basically say "no returns until we're fully open" - but that could feasibly take months

AYRT—yikes. It’s funny, my job involves both accepting crap that has been sitting around people’s houses for months, and the occasional argument with an entitled dipshit or straight up whackjob. Because I work in a public library.

Right now the plan is people can pick up their requested books at the door, but we’re not accepting returns for the first week. After that, we are gonna set stuff aside for at least three days (I’m hoping for a week because three days seems too short when people occasionally use used tissues—and once a used condom—as bookmarks) before checking it in.

Maybe your job will get so much pushback from entitled dipshits they’ll start taking returns earlier and have them set aside for awhile? Idk, there’s not a lot of good safe options for customer facing jobs that involve returned items and arguing. I’m glad my governor has said anyone who contacts COVID while working is eligible for workers’ comp because I bet I’ll get it before summer’s over. I hope I don’t die or end up with more permanent disabilities than the ones I have already.
