It's been a while since I've been here, but you're spot on about it like an afternoon/timezones ritual. bAcK iN mY DaY I remember all the arguing about what constitutes appropriate secret submission content, and the difference between stating an opinion vs a secret ahaaha oh good times ♥

Heh, exactly. I guess I think of this site as a way for people to cathartically unleash some controversial or shameful thing about fandom that they don't want attached to their identity. Liking Phyllis doesn't really fit the bill. Who is going to be appalled by that? Who is even going to care? It's not even the kind of harmless secret that will generate much conversation about the topic/content itself. Sorry, OP, but if THIS is something you can't admit to anywhere but F!S... I mean, if it ended with "because I liked to imagine all the hot sex she had with Bob Vance, Vance Refrigeration", or something, there might be a secret there....

SA. For one thing, "Phyllis is great" could easily be the interpretation here. In fact, I purposely phrased it that way so it could have a double meaning. Unfortunately, the other part of that double meaning is that this kind of "harmless and fairly common opinion" type of non-secret is pretty pointless and I'm continually surprised that people bother to submit them.

Phyllis is one of the underrated best. I love that everyone applies the "sweet mother type" to Phyllis but she's actually savage AF.

I kind of wanted to like her at the start? But actually I ended up really disliking her. She's just as bad as Angela in her own way; I can think of several examples where she was just really judgemental and nasty.

I know no-one's meant to be an angel in this show, and I appreciated casting an older very normal-looking actor (whom I really like separately, she's awesome in The OA) but the number of people trying to sell Phyllis as awesome really surprises me.
