I was honestly sort of annoyed by what they did to Britta. Guess her starting out as one of the more mature and competent characters wasn't funny enough.

The problem with Britta was that

1) She just wasn't a popular character at the time (outside of some corners of the internet)
2) The Jeff/Britta ship tanked HARD in-show
3) Dan Harmon was desperate to rectify both so he could get Britta to be more likeable so he could end the show with his original Jeff/Britta ship

If you look at every season of Community, it's like you have six different characters, all of whom happen to have the same name and are played by the same actress. New season = new character.

OR (and this was always my meta explanation), Britta takes on the personality of whatever guy she's interested in at the time, sort of like how Ann was during the the first half of Parks and Recreation.

In all honesty, sometimes I think Britta as a character would have been better off if Dan stuck to his guns and made Britta the straight character for the entire run of the show.
